Treasure Mine – Summer Edition

June 3 – August 30, 2024

Monday – Friday by appointment for groups of 10 or more.

Participate in an interactive outdoor classroom learning and investigating the differences between rocks and minerals and the life cycle of rocks. Students will have a hands-on learning experience at the Mining Sluice, where they will discover and identify various minerals and gemstones. Our Mining Sluice is a lesson in itself! Hand-built and designed specifically for our farm using old farm equipment, the sluice itself is an opportunity to learn about farm history. After each student discovers their gems they will be given an identification card to accurately identify exactly what they found. This tour follows the Core Curriculum and will last approximately one hour.

• Just for Teachers: Pre & Post Tour activities to reinforce lessons learned on the tour.

All tours include access to Pawpaw Carl’s Playground and Picnic Area. Participants are welcome prior to or after their tour.
