The Farmer For The Day Tour gives children the experience of a day in the life of a farmer. The purpose of this tour is to enhance a child’s understanding of the hard work and dedication it takes to be a farmer. Participants will “work” around the farm experiencing various interactive learning stations. From each station, participants will gather products and eventually “sell” them at our farmer market where they will earn a Patterson Farm Buck that is redeemable for ice cream or water from our market. This tour follows the Core Curriculum and will last approximately one hour.
Tour Includes:
- Barn Theater featuring “The Dirt on Dirt DVD”
- Interactive Learning Stations
- The Barnyard: Animal Life
- Insect Garden (Friend or Foe)
- The Bee Barn: Pollination
- The Vegetable Garden
- The Apple Orchard
- The Dairy Barn/The Chicken Coop
- The Planting Shed: Parts of a Plant
- The Farmers Market: Participants “sell” the products they gathered while “working” on the farm, and will earn a Patterson Farm Buck that is redeemable for ice cream or water from our market.
- Farm Fun take away to reinforce lessons learned
- Just For Teachers: Pre and Post Tour activities to reinforce your activities.
