Farm Scene Investigation: A Geocaching Quest

Recommended for: Preschool- 2nd Grade
Length of Tour:
Approximately 1 hour to 1.5 hours depending on group size.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Farmer Joe is missing and we believe there is “fowl” play. Using a navigation app you will find 6 mystery spots around our 100 acre farm. Find all six mystery spots on the farm and gather clues. Use the clues to figure out who is responsible for Farmer Joe’s disappearance, what they used, and where it happened. Turn in your answer for a sweet treat at the ice cream shop. Think you have what it takes to solve the mystery? Grab your detective gear and get ready to uncover the truth! There is a good amount of walking involved, so please make sure you dress appropriately and that all participants are able to walk such distances.

Minimum of 10 paying guests/Maximum of 125 total Participants (Students, Parents, & Teachers). If your group is expected to be larger than 125, please split your group and book two separate times on the same day. You all may arrive at the same time and play or eat lunch while waiting on your tour to begin.

Tour Includes:

• Presentation about how agriculture is changing and the importance of technology in agriculture
• Geocaching 101- Explanation of what Geocaching is and how this technology is used in farming.
• A clue book (for marking down suspects, and locations)
• Geocaching Adventure-High tech treasure hunt using navigational technology
• One Scoop of Ice Cream or Water
• Activity Book per student
• Hands on activity for participants to do back in the classroom to reinforce lessons learned
• Just for Teachers: Pre and Post Tour activities to reinforce tour activities.

All tours include access to Pawpaw Carl’s Playground and Picnic Area for participants to enjoy before or after their tour.
