The Dirt on Dirt Tour is an educational tour offered at Patterson Farm Market & Tours, Inc. which purpose is to teach students about the importance of soil to farmers, plants, and our planet. While the tour can be modified to any age, we are promoting it to 3rd graders as it meets the NC Common Core Standards for the Third Grade. Children will learn about soil and its importance through a variety of sensory and hands-on activities and will leave with a better understanding of the soil beneath their feet. This tour will last for approximately one and a half hours.
Tour Includes:

- Hands-on Activities
- Soil Sample Collection
- Soil Lab: Water Absorption & Nutrients Experiment
- Composting
- Soil Conservation
- Irrigation
- Soil Activity Book
- Just For Teachers: Pre and Post Tour activities to reinforce your activities.
All tours include access to Pawpaw Carl’s Playground and Picnic Area. Participants are welcome prior to or after their tour.
- Each class will receive a soil observation kit to do further investigations in their classroom.
- This tour will last for approximately one and a half hours.
